To learn. I've got to learn so much more about the art of writing. I've been doing it for many years', but have only once mustered up strength enough to submit a manuscript to a publisher - it was rejected, of course. But I'll try again!
Mostly, the sheer, very personal, pleasure of putting pen to paper; thereby allowing some of my good, and not so good, memories of my life at home, and in the Edinburgh City Police , flow onto a page. I've found it to be cathartic.
While the 'Reading' Meetup Group was a real eye-opener for me last night, I can't deny that attending the 'Writers' Group is what I'm really after. I've got so much to learn. Only after regularly attending that, will I be in a position to recommend it (or not) to others.

"Thanks Caroline. It's just that being a total beginner with you all, I have yet to find out exactly what we can, or cannot, discuss at our meetings. That said, to hear the experiences of others (be they good or bad) would be interesting."
"Hi, Andrew, Would it be possible for you (either on 2nd March - or at any future Meetups) to devote a little of our time together towards helping us create synopses which are agent/publisher friendly? Thanks. See you tomorrow, Alastair"
"Oops! I should have looked at this one first."
"Have I missed something? Are we not holding a Writers Meetup on 2nd March?"
"I thoroughly enjoyed the sheer diversity of the topics chosen by each writer, as well as the mainly constructive criticisms which were given to each."
"I'm sure it's what I've been looking for."
