Waverley Bar

Stunning time worn features all around, and the bar isn't so bad either. Frankly, a bit of 1970's time warp, rundown and grubby to the point of being Gormenghast theatrical. But the beer was good and the bar staff very pleasant.

I am concerned at the volume the music is played at....it is not in the background. I find it distracting when listening to a reading. I wonder if a chnge of venue may be considered?.

Ladies toilets were shocking - the smell in there of mould, rot and wee is just abominable.

It's cold and unpleasant. The only thing it has going for it is that you can always get a seat - and the bar staff are (usually) nice.

Small, old, upstairs Edinburgh pub room ... all that was missing was the fug of tobacco! Oh, them were the days!

Thanks guys, I enjoyed it, even under the pub's one 60W light bulb. Good to see that the venue is green and enviro friendly! A little word of advice for future new members, bring your reading glasses and winter thermals. What is more, I did not have to queue at the bar for my drink. Also, it was central and easily accessed by car, bike and train.

How sad to see a once busy and popular bar in such a state of neglect - or are the owners now too wealthy to care?
Not a place to go to 'get out of the cold' - even the bar staff wear outdoor jackets AND gloves!
Made welcome, yet left alone - fine by me.

Wrap up warm as the upper room has no heating. Great until the muzak was turned on and I left. My drink was a very reasonable cost compad to other bars at twice the price.

Waverley Bar, is quite acceptable as a meeting place despite the room not having very good lighting. The accoustics of the room is inclined to make it difficult to hear when people are quiet spoken and it may have been uncomfortable for some of the gentlemen sitting on stools.
I do not know how safe the area is for women walking there on their own. I had no problems.
